Agent Operation and Status
Understand the data reported by agents and how online status is calculated.
The agent runs in the background as a Windows service. It registers the device at startup, then sends health and inventory information at regular intervals.
Reported data
- Hardware inventory: CPU, RAM, disks, BIOS, motherboard, graphics, and network adapters
- Installed Windows applications
- Connected USB storage devices
- BitLocker protection and recovery-key inventory
- Logged-on users
- System uptime and security status
- Supported Windows events
- ayaDesk remote-session readiness
A heartbeat is sent approximately once per minute. Full inventory is refreshed periodically and can be updated earlier when a USB device change is detected.
Status meanings
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Online | The agent contacted the API recently. |
| Offline | No heartbeat was received within the expected period. |
| Remote access preparing | The agent is online, but ayaDesk details are not ready yet. |
| Deleted | The record is hidden from normal lists but may be retained for history. |
Remote commands such as shutdown, restart, application removal, and package installation cannot run while the agent is offline.
